How It Works

Two stages. No guesswork.

Every engagement hits the same two-stage model. The Discovery Sprint comes first — always.

Stage 1
Discovery Sprint
$2,500 – $5,000

I fly to you, live in your business for 3–5 days. Then I leave with a full requirements doc, architecture map, and a fixed quote for the build.

  • Site visit, system audit, real interviews
  • Architecture decisions on whiteboard
  • Written scope, every assumption listed
  • Fixed quote for build phase + a list of what's NOT included
Book it
Stage 2
Full Build
$15,000 – $60,000+

I fly back for 2–3 months. I sit in your office and build the software in front of you. You watch it ship.

  • On-site, in your office, every working day
  • Daily standups, no Slack-only excuses
  • Launch + train + handoff to your team
  • Quarterly check-ins included for the first year
How Travel & Accommodation Works. I bill at-cost, no markup. You get the receipts. Flights, hotel, and ground transport are billed weekly, separately from the project fee.

About Steve Saintil

The person you're actually hiring.

Steve isn't a freelancer, a consultancy, or a software consultant who hires somebody to fly out to your business in his place. He travels personally to mid-sized businesses, sleeps inside the building, and learns how operations actually run before opening an IDE. That's the only way real custom software gets shipped.

The two-stage model exists for one reason: most builders quote before they understand the work. Steve refuses to do that. The Discovery Sprint is the price of getting it right.

I don't start building until I understand your business. That's what the Discovery Sprint is for. It's the step nobody else does — and it's why the software actually works.

Common Questions

Questions most business owners ask me first.

If yours isn't here, email me directly or book a quick call. Steve responds personally to every message.

A Discovery Sprint is a paid 3–5 day on-site session where I come to your business, interview your team, and map your actual workflows before any software is planned or built. Most software projects fail because developers start building before they truly understand the business. The Discovery Sprint eliminates that risk entirely. At the end, you get a full written project plan and a fixed-price proposal for the full build — with no obligation to continue.
The Discovery Sprint is priced at $2,500 to $5,000 depending on the size and complexity of your business. This is a fixed fee that covers 3 to 5 days of on-site work, team interviews, workflow mapping, and a full written project plan. Travel and accommodation are billed separately at actual cost on top of this fee.
After the Discovery Sprint, I deliver a written project plan with a fixed-price proposal for the full build. If you want to proceed, we sign a contract and I return for the full 2–3 month build. If you decide not to continue, you keep the project plan and can use it with any developer.
The full build is priced at a fixed project fee from $15,000 to $60,000 or more, depending on scope. The exact price is defined and agreed upon during the Discovery Sprint — so there are no surprises. I charge a fixed fee, not hourly. Travel and accommodation are billed separately at actual cost.
No — and that is intentional. Travel and accommodation (flights, hotels, ground transport) are billed separately at actual cost. This is the standard in professional consulting. Travel costs are estimated upfront before anything begins, receipts are always provided, and reasonable mid-range accommodation is the standard.
Remote developers build what they are told. On-site consultants build what the business actually needs. Miscommunication is the number one cause of failed software projects. When I work on-site, I observe your real workflow, catch problems no video call would ever surface, and make real-time decisions based on what I see on the ground.
Yes — completely. You own all the code, the database, everything. There are no licensing fees, no ongoing subscriptions to Steve, and no lock-in of any kind. After go-live, an optional monthly retainer for ongoing support and updates is available, but it is entirely your choice.
Four ways: book a free 15-minute call on the calendar, email steve@stevesaintil.com, fill out the contact form on this page, or ask the chat assistant in the bottom-right. Pick whichever is easiest — Steve replies personally within a day. You describe the problem in plain English; no technical language needed.
